Govia annouces key management changes at Southern and South Eastern

The most notable will see Charles Horton, Managing Director at Southern for three years, moving to South Eastern as the new Managing Director. He will replace Michael Holden who is leaving after three successful years leading South Eastern Trains (SET). Charles has managed the impressive turnaround of Southern during his tenure and now moves to South Eastern to continue that process. Chris Burchell, currently Operations Director at Southern, is promoted to Managing Director of Southern. Chris was previously at Thames Trains and Railtrack. Chris has been the architect of the significant improvement in operating performance at Southern and his promotion to managing director recognises this and allows him to continue the work started under Charles.Go-Ahead’s Chief Executive Christopher Moyes paid tribute to SET’s outgoing senior management team, saying:“Govia is looking forward to taking on the challenge of bringing about further improvements at South Eastern, and building on the successful foundations established by the outgoing team.“The new top team at South Eastern, some of whom worked on the franchise bid, will now start to accelerate improvements in train service punctuality, reliability and presentation.
