The alliance gives Navis a new transportation option for its customers and provides NDS with a nationwide network of local pickup and delivery agents trained in its "white glove" handling process. Items shipped with NDS are packed and handled with special materials and moving equipment and are nottransferred to or stored with outside carriers. About 120 Navis franchises will offer the NDS shipping option. Navis holds its annual Franchisee Conference in Denver at the Marriott Denver South on Sept. 23 - 26. NDS President and CEO Michael Boyd will meet with franchisees to demonstrate specialty piano moving equipment and packing solutions offered by NDS, part of the training program for Navis franchisees. "We are pleased to partner with Nationwide Delivery Systems and look forward to completing the integration of its specialized premium services and sophisticated logistics software at our franchise locations," said Marvin L. Storm, CEO of Navis. "By partnering with NDS, we are now able to offercustomers throughout the United States the ultimate 'white-glove' option for shipping their fragile and hard-to-handle items," he added. Using NDS' proprietary logistics software, Navis Pack & Ship Centers and Handle With Care Packaging Store franchises will be able to schedule the most economical and quickest routes for moving these fragile items across the country. The Navis and NDS partnership has been piloted in Boston, where Navis' Packaging Store franchises have been accepting orders from customers for antiques and fragile items. Through this pilot, 30 East Coast Packaging Store and Navis Pack & Ship franchises are now selling the NDS service directly.Navis and NDS also partnered at a national online auction of Americana collectibles held in Des Moines, Iowa, in July, and delivered more than 250 pieces sold at the world's largest indoor antique show, Atlantique City, held bi-annually in Atlantic City, N.J.
