Russian Ports' Throughput in January-August 2005

 The stevedoring companies working in the ports of the Russian North-West increased the throughput. St. Petersburg port stevedores increased the handling volumes by 15%, Murmansk port - by 6%, Kaliningrad port - 8.8%. In the 8 months the ports of the Far East handled 46.7 mn tons of cargoes (+2.4% year-on-year). The stevedoring companies working on the territory of the Vostochny port reduced the handling volumes by 0.7% down to 13.9 mn tons. Vladivostok port and Nakhodka ports also reduced the volumes down to 2.8% and 9% respectively. The throughput of the Sakhalin ports increased by 6.3%. The throughput of the Southern basin amounted to 103.6 mn tons. 70% of the throughput fell to the share of the Novorossiysk port stevedores, which handled over 73.8 mn tons of cargo (+16.4%). Novorossiysk Commercial Seaport JSC increased the throughput by 5% to 49.3 mn tons.
