Since the beginning of 2006, Schenker has been operating throughout Slovenia under the name of Schenker d.d., offering its customers a complete portfolio of logistics services. Three years ago, the Slovenian logistics market leader Intertrans was integrated into the global Schenker network. As the leading international supplier of logistics services, Schenker has been represented in South Eastern Europe for years with its own powerful country organizations in leading positions on the market. Schenker has an excellent infrastructure in Slovenia, with nine offices - in Ljubljana, Sezana, Jelsane, Maribor, Gruskovje, Lendava, in the seaport of Koper, and in Obrezje and Brnik. With a workforce of 120 employees, Schenker offers a complete range of integrated logistics services, ranging from part load and full load services to the punctual delivery of groupage consignments. Customers may choose between the SCHENKERsystem, SCHENKERtop and top 12 time definite services. This means regular scheduled transport services with clearly defined transit times, based on an integrated barcode system for tracking consignments throughout Europe. In Slovenia, Schenker provides a 24-hour and 12-hour service for national distribution and collection. The country organization also has offices at the airport in Ljubljana and, with its SCHENKERsky products, is one of the leading service providers in air freight. The organization is connected to Schenker's global air freight network and benefits from its hub structure. Major destinations are the Far East, the USA and Australia. In addition to direct flights from Ljubljana, transport services throughout the world are available from Vienna with a daily road feeder service. With SCHENKERocean, Schenker offers a complete range of sea freight services in Slovenia from the export and import of less than container loads (LCL) and full container loads (FCL) to conventional freight. The portfolio of services extends from local handling to the storage, loading and unloading of containers and packaging of goods, and to the preparation of transit documents, customs clearance and consignment monitoring. Within the Schenker network, Slovenia is linked to the import routes via Austrian gateways, and the Schenker gateway in Rotterdam is used for LCL export services. Schenker has excellent connections to the national rail companies in the Western Balkans, offering a competitive alternative to road transport. This applies in particular to pick-up and delivery concepts for transport services around the port of Koper. Slovenia is extremely important as a transit country for ex-Yugoslavia and South Eastern Europe. The logistics terminal in Ljubljana was extended in 2005 to 23,000 square meters. It provides all supply chain services in the fields of procurement, warehousing and distribution, plus cross docking, order picking, packaging and labeling services, and the provision of specific value added services, such as assembly work to customer specifications. Schenker also assumes responsibility for deliveries to the point of sale and handles the distribution of spare parts. Global players from the automotive sector, well-known pharmaceutical corporations, international manufacturers of consumer goods and electronics companies utilize the services provided by Schenker. The acquisition of large logistics projects has been a major factor behind the successful development of the company. With annual sales of 8 billion euros, 39,000 employees and about 1,100 offices around the world, Schenker is one of the world's leading providers of integrated logistics services, offering land operations, air and sea freight as well as comprehensive logistics solutions and global supply chain management from a single source. Schenker is a part of DB Logistics, the Transportation and Logistics Division of Deutsche Bahn AG. Source: Press Release
